Oh Delta 11(?)

This is true.

I’m working on my taxes right now and I’m quite sure most people reading this thread would be on the guillotine as well.

Yup. I got paid by [an airline we still don't have a fun name for yet!] for a lot of the year to do nothing while concurrently working a good paying job. And that airline money was funded by taxpayer funded bailouts. I'm toast.

@Derg same here

I figured now is probably a good time to start getting caught up on my filings for AZ. So I’m starting work on that.....

“Hello, Mr. Daftarian. Mr Danby here from the Internal Revenue Service. While we can’t dispute writing off automobile parts, we’re just curious about cases and cases of 10W-40.... could you call us back at your earliest convenience?”

I’m a professional landlord. You’re way behind me in line for the guillotine. :bounce:

Ha!

I’m not surprised you’re, uh, a strong supporter of gun rights for personal protection.

I mean I guess property management pays well but man you must have to have some thick skin—seems like if you manage a bunch of properties there’s always going to be some dinguses who hates your guts no matter what you do.

We made the local news early in the pandemic because the woke crew took offense to me sending out an email that told tenants that they still had to pay rent, but here’s a list of charities who can help if you’re falling on hard times. Apparently it was evil to suggest help from charity, because the woke thought I should just waive the rent.

It went viral, and I was inundated with literal death threats. Didn’t leave the house without my gun and constantly looking over my shoulder for weeks. It sucked.

I had to point this out to a friend of mine last summer when there were protests in his neighborhood. Like "bro, I know you're a Bernie and drive a Prius, but your house is $500k, that's exactly why they're protesting in your neighborhood and not mine!"

I'm getting a lot of "you know you paid more taxes, than I made last year!?" - while I'm complaining about how much taxes I've paid. And then quantified in how many stimulus checks my taxes cover... sheesh!

None of us probably think of ourselves as "rich" per se because our roots are instructing for $15/hr, and then working for $20,000/yr first year pay at some regional (or getting through first year pay at pualani). The later higher salary that comes with longevity merely offset that, and averages out to "normal."

Same thing happens with doctors, but I guess that's less discussed. It's always dangerous territory of discussion, because "other people" outside "the know" will always have a different opinion on what you should get paid. Exhibit A: look at all the opinions on teacher salaries.

Arizona.

”We want the best schools and the best teachers, but they’d better work for free and don’t think of taxing me”

And "rich" in one state is vastly different than in another state. I could live like a gilded-gold-Trump family member down by VPS, but up in NYC the mainline salary just doesn't go that far. Teachers in Ffld County CT make 6 figures (which causes horrors!)- but then if you look at real estate and cost of living...

I'm in the range of super entry-level Manhattan apartment. However, I'd be a guy they'd figure has a gold toilet if I lived in Arkansas.
