A little movement is better than nothing.

In the last few days, two friends have reached out saying they’ve been hired somewhere. One was at Boutique and got hired on at Horizon. The other was at Empire, a former captain at Compass, who recently got an offer from Breeze. I know that’s not earth shattering movement, but the fact that anywhere is hiring and an airline is starting up is maybe an indication that things may slowly start to roll on. Let’s hope so!!

Your place is still packing them in(6 feet apart), right?

You're right, though. There hasn't been a huge shift, but you can tell from all the rumors that a lot of places are at least putting plans on the shelf to add pilots in 2021. Best of luck to everybody who isn't at their final career destination.

Yeah still hiring here, but freight has been going strong so I don’t think any cargo company slowed down hiring during Covid. It is great to see some of the passenger carriers hiring again!

What were your buddies times at Boutique?

When he went to Boutique he had 600 hours back in 2018. I believe he has about 1700 now. He did buy his own ATP-CTP a few months back, not sure how much that weighs into getting hired yet. I don’t even know if regionals are scrapping the paid for CTP programs yet or not, I’ll look into it though.

Yeah regionals paying for ATP-CTP has been dead for a long time. You gotta come out of your pocket again and regionals hiring now have a strict ATP policy.

That stinks, but the times are a changin I guess. Supply and Demand rules

It was expected. There's always a dramatic shift during down times. Mins go up and HR gets more picky. Someone who had a golden ticket in the good times will be snubbed ad unqualified in the new era. But the pendulum eventually swings back the other way. Eb and flow.

I gratefully count my blessings, if this situation happened in 2015 I’d be hosed I tell ya, hosed. I was nervous enough getting jobs during the good times, talking about my life speed bumps were easier when I knew the other side of the table was hungry for someone with a pulse. Different story now I’m sure.

Where are you getting your info? That doesn’t seem to be true at all.

Reading stuff and talking w/people with the times telling me. Being where I am right now, low time. Hanging out with or talking to other low time people. I hear a lot of others trying to break into 121 asking questions about the ATP, now that they have to come out of pocket for it to the tune of 5k.

Mesa is requiring that you already have your ATP in-hand when you apply to even get a look. Not sure but I *think* Commutair, the other regional hiring, is also requiring the same. Horizon is/was hiring, not sure if they're still doing, paying for ATP-CTP classes/rating.

But if I'm wrong, please correct me with the right info.

Looks like maybe Commutair and Mesa might. But looks like the rest just require the hours. One airline mentioned that it's paid for. But nowadays to be competitive you might need it.

Yeah, word on the street is that PSA is still covering ATP-CTP. However, that is from guys that had CJO’s when the music stopped last year.
