So damned sad. COVID-19 is seriously an extinction event in aviation. I only saw the Landor bird once ever, and the Negus(70/80s livery) never visited SFO. With the size of the BA 747 fleet and the sheer size of their network, I have to assume that dropping the 747 means some cities like MSY\AUS\SJC with BA service may be losing it for longer than the worst of the pandemic...

Here she is leaving SFO in better days. So many memories with the crews of these birds, so many unsolicited "Ahoy" calls and mentioning of Shark Week. I'll miss seeing them very much.

And to give you an idea how labour relations work in civilised Europe, this news was dropped in an unsigned email from “management“ at 2200 to increase pressure while the Union is trying to agree a deal over jobs.

The company obviously just wants to ditch everyone on the 747 regardless of seniority/agreements

I never got to fly her but the best 3 engined aircraft ever to cross the Atlantic!

Funny. As much as people like to point to Europe and Universities as socialist workers’ paradises, they have some of the worst labor relations I’ve ever seen.
