QX ANC base again?

I just wrote to the union about this. Seems like even more mainline flying going away would be really detrimental to the pilots on the Alaska Airlines seniority list. Considering as of June 4 we were facing 20-30 percent reductions in staffing.

My neighbor is a 2-3yr FO there. He's pretty sure he's not safe from the limited interactions I've has with him the last couple moths. Then this announcement and I can't help but think, well there goes a bunch more flying.

Sounds like Horizon is going to fly E175s from ANC to FAI, AKN, and DLG.

They’re saying they won’t be opening a base in ANC again. Aledgedlies....175s won’t even stay over night. Something something camel tent.

I'm equally unsafe. So this all does not sit well with me.

How could that be possible? Its 3.5 block or so SEA-ANC 1 hr block or so ANC-FAI. Are we going for 10 hr days with 4 legs? The FAI thing is what worries me the most. When I was super junior that is all I did. FAI overnights and red eyes. This latest move would leave mainline with red eyes I'm guessing.

I can only hope that enough paid long term leaves are offered (and taken) to mitigate the potential for furloughs. Everyone should be in financial save mode right now, but especially the bottom 200-300 who are perhaps most vulnerable.

My 135 already has an alaska guy hired last year back with us, he jumped on that leave of absence and got himself back in a Lear.

The crew overnights. The plane does not. The early am FAI-SEA is staying I guess, that’s about all I’ve heard.
