ZSE save

That's one thing I stress to student pilots. Many (most?) ATCers are not pilots and may not have any idea how to help you fly your plane.

Glad this guy could jump in and help.

every dog has its day. 1 life saved still doesn't make up for the millions of terrible vectors and "sequencing" that centers are responsible for every day.

This is little Timmy, he lives in a crash pad with 27 other people named timmy and] they all have to share one bed. Ramen is their only food source and if they're very lucky there's a bottle of Tapatio that has been missing the cap for weeks on the counter. Timmy has been on two hour callout for eighty four years. Last week he was told he had to take a... "limo".. 5 hours to ferry empty to podunk city Iowa where there was no flight back for several days. On the way there he got a 90 degree left turn and then a box pattern for "traffic" even though he hadn't heard another airplane on frequency for several states.

For only pennies a day you can help save a poor starving regional jet pilot from being abused by terrible vectors.

Every time center gives me a 90 degree vector at cruise altitude I assume they’re just having me pull a “Crazy Ivan” to clear my baffles. Must be a lot of rogue submarines at 32,000 ft above Nebraska.

Most of what we do Enroute wise for spacing is to satisfy some crazy demand that some TMU guy who hasn't worked actual traffic in over 10 years got approved. We normally feed ZOA 10 MIT at least for SFO/SJC/OAK,but that can get bumped up to 20 or more, which is gonna get some people turned sometimes. Where it gets stupid is when they call down to us and say ZOA is requesting in trail for SEA/PDX/YVR 20MIT all as one, Or Mazatlan is requesting 75 MIT over TIJ, but somehow SFO and SJC just launched 3 United's and a Volaris for Mexico all back to back to back. Also, we work on such a huge range so much of the time that precise vectoring is just not gonna happen. Enroute is kind of just its own game....Id love to try my hand at TRACON but theres nothing anywhere around here that Id want to do.

would you prefer a 90 degree vector for 3 minutes or a 20 degree vector for 60 minutes to accomplish the same thing?

I bet I've talked to you more than once.

Most of my flights aren’t long enough to do 20 minute vectors let alone 60 and quite honestly I don’t care if they vector me, speed me up, slow me down, have me do holds, 360s, whatever.

But Kansas is boring to look at and my FO’s story about how he got his SIC only DC-3 type rating while on summer break from UND isn’t getting any more interesting the fifth time he’s told me about it so I gotta do something to entertain myself.

Ask him how his parents were able to pay for it

Can i get an AMEN BROTHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep try precise vectoring when one AC is doing +600kts with another doing 390kts fighting +150kts jet stream tail wind and your turn radius is 20+ miles v 3 down in that nice dense tracon puke air

I know that voice! We normally talk to him on our way to or from Calgary. That’s a rough bit of area if you get into the clouds it’s good he didn’t ice up more than he did
