Flight instruction hourly rates?

Hey all. Its been a while since I've done flight instruction for anyone other than a few friends that I always charged the same amount.

So if I started flight instructing a lot again what are the ranges on hourly rates for flight instructors?

As a freelance instructor no less than $75/hr, but I don't do primary instruction anymore.

$40-50 for independent flight instructors here in the KFAR area. The FBO at the airport is in the 80 range, IIRC.

Ground instruction can vary from 30-45 an hour.

$50 freelance in the Twin Cities. Flights schools here charge around $75-100 which I think is kinda ridiculous.

Was recently considering letting my CFI finally lapse too, now not so much. How much is private CFI insurance these days to make those rates attractive?

I have a friend that got pretty good bodily injury and property damage coverage from Avemco for about $400. Adding aircraft damage was something like $500 and up depending on coverage.

I don't know what they're getting today, but outside of Private & commercial SEL&MEL instruction it's ~$200/hr. AK
Last summer primary was getting $75/hr in the instructor's pocket through a flight school.

I charge 80/hr in my plane but I think I might up it. I vary my rate depending on the type of training sometimes but mostly I charge 80/hr. I don't do primary instruction though.

DC metro area, my cirri school just upped it to $100. I usually charge $75, but the only freelance I was doing was in multis. I am going to up it to 85 for folks off the street.
Might start doing freelance primary in an old 150, not sure what I’ll charge for that.
Nothing wrong with getting some premium pay going. What does your plumber charge you to come unclog a sink??

At KBRD in Central MN the rates are about 60 for flight and ground.
