Correct. But in my opinion automation is there for a reason and it increases the margin for safety. Especially in busy/complex airspace. Into/out of an outstation somewhere? Knock yourself out. Into and out of hubs? Sure... But is it the best course of action? That is debatable in my opinion.

I don't see a problem with that. If the other pilot gets task saturated the autopilot is only a button away.

Situation dependent. Good weather and not busy, just because it’s a hub doesn’t mean you should automatically couple up. But the rule is that if you’re PF, you need to monitor your PM. (S)he’s there to help save your butt, if they’re getting busy, automate.

Me and pretty much all of the Captains I fly with hand fly out of NYC nearly 90% of the time. Heck, these days I’m surprised when the autopilot comes on below 10,000.

Only one base does any major flying out of LGA at his place of work. I would say the chances are high he is not flying out of said base. Could be wrong though.

I do find a "company man" reference to be funny in some scenarios. I personally fly econ during my flying. Why? Chances are you only save a couple minutes by going fast (in the RJ world at least) and I bet I get more unintentional "overs" as a result.

"Frontier, verify your first fix is MPASS." "Frontier so and so, RNAV to MPASS." "Frontier, I see you in the turn to MPASS, contact Atlanta Departure."

DID YOU KNOW THE FIRST FIX IS MPASS?

It's like they invented the pilot deviation for runway changes in ATL.
