Envoy Air Pay and Dallas living

Hello all, I interviewed with Envoy the other day and feel it went really well, but heard the pay is fairly low. Starting at $14.80, then at six months going to $15.30.

My questions are is it a good place to move to a mainline from and are there annual pay raises or is it bi annual? If anyone knows the first three years that would be helpful. Also, what's the OCC like?

I've never been to Dallas, other than for the interview, so if anyone has experience of that town, I'd love to hear about it.

Thank you for the help!

That’s about what I made when I worked in Dallas. Can you make it work? Yes. Is it great? No.

Thankfully I was making about $2k extra a month on the side, which is the only way I made it work.

I don't know much about their pay structure and OCC. But can tell you that as one of AA's wholly-owned subsidiaries it is one of the most sought after regionals for a transition to AA. I have heard they use the same flight planning software as AA, for which their DXers are looked at very favorably by AA. It also helps that they are just a few miles away from American's IOC.

DFW area is overall a nice place to live. Its a big metro area with all the advantages that it entails. It is amongst the fastest growing cities in the country, increasingly diverse, low taxes and whatnot. Summers can be extremely rough, if like me you are a cold weather person. Just like anything else in TX, it is huge, so a reliable car is an absolute necessity. Also like anything else in TX, the Texans think its the best. You be the judge :)

Although not as close (or as cheap) as it used to be to the Envoy SOC, the pink palace across the street from the AA IOC is one place where low income airline workers stay to make it work. The centreport area of Fort Worth has a lot of airline workers in general. It would be a good place to look for roommate or crashpads.

A friend of mine there said something like 2 years time on average to upgrade to AA and that the pink palace is where most new hires end up. As far as DFW goes, there are worse towns to get stuck in and the only problem is the heat and the California transplants. The dispatch group is supposed to be in contract negotiations, but one of the managers mentioned that they were still in the very early stages.

Calls for Envoy went out last week and right now people are waiting for the pool hires to take or leave their offer. The first posting was in late April which was made up of only current airline employees/mainly dispatchers and then another positing in June.

Does anyone actually have the address for the pink palace? I googled it and got a salon.

Let’s not be insulting, please. I was a California transplant, and people are coming from all over to Dallas right now.

I've heard they're in contract negotiations, but we all know that takes years to complete...

Does anyone have a pulse on Envoy's next potential opening? Just got my dx license and looks like I have to leave my current shop for Dallas ASAP due to family things.

We have a class coming out to the floor for OJT now so it could be any time. It also depends on if Southwest hires a few away from us. Either way, it should not be long.
Thanks for the info! Do you think it'll be hard to get in without DX experience? I've just been scheduling for the last few years.

The majority of the last few classes have been people with no experience, so you will have a good chance of getting hired if you study up on the basics of dispatching, basically the things we learned to get our ticket. Your scheduling experience will help for sure. Good luck!

Looks like Envoy’s new contract brought their pay in line with everyone else, except Endeavor, who remains the top of the list.
