I had the French Bee crew up here the other day and they asked how much I still expect to pay in my flight training.
"That's it?"
One of them learned to fly in France and spent $120k+ USD, the other in Spain and spent about $160k for PPL-Commercial Multi. Different world over there, and often there is a strict selection process for the programs, they don't just take anyone with cash and rush them thru like we do here in the states.

As I was born in the UK, I’ve looked into the way things are over there ever since I started flight training. Let’s just say I’m very very glad my Mom met my Dad who was a yank based over there in the late 80’s. Don’t think I’d be a pilot with the way things are over there. EasyJet program is 100,000£, thats a lot of dosh for a commoner from East Anglia to fork up. Then after you spend all that money the salaries aren’t that great in the long run, granted UK living doesn’t require as high of a salary unless you want to live in London
The only way over there for someone who isn’t from a wealthy family to make it is the military, as there isn’t a selection of GA to find the cheapest training possible. Even then you still have to pay about 20,000£ after you separate for all of the exams to get the ATPL.
The BA future pilot Programme is comparable to one of us winning the lottery, a TON of applicants for very few slots so that program is very selective, even more so than the already selective places like EasyJet and Flybe. BA doesn’t require you to pay 100k but will take a large portion of the pilots pay for a good amount of years. I believe you still have to find a way to fund about 30% of the costs before hand as well. I’ve read families that have taken second mortgages out on their homes to get their children the money to go through the program. Just downright craziness to me.
Now I have stated my opinions on the US way of doing things, but at least it’s possible to slowly make your way through training without a truck load of debt. Could still be a better situation over here though, like anything there’s always room for improvement!

I see fewer than eight seats in the video, and possibly as many as 24 people. The rooms does not appear to be a hotel. The video appears to confirm the crew's story.
