Who else thinks NextGen was pushed by senior pilots who didn't feel like tpying flight plans anymore?

Now take those 5 minutes, multiply it by whatever number of flights operated within a year. Get it?

Nobody is going to buy a $100 million A321 for just one flight. "It's the economy...(expletive)...."
 
Early 2007, Harrison, AR. Embedded thunderstorm just south of the field, so ILS was a no-go, and my mighty CE210/U was GPSless. Not to worry, I had an M1 Loran onboard to give me near-suspected location information when I hit the PTT and the ADF needle started spinning around.

You need 2 minutes, or there about, to land and clear. There’s no amount of ATC tweaks that are going to fix that. Many, if not all “congested” airports don’t have a lack of ATC, but a lack of concrete because they’ve reached the this physical limit. Adding more RNP approaches or RNAV arrivals with profile descents isn’t going to change that one bit.

Even when they try to tweak the system to be more efficient, the people who lie underneath start squawking about it, and the richer the people, the less likely it will change no matter what, so again, the problem isn’t with ATC, real estate.

Marginal improvement? Sure, but it’s a lot of squeeze for the juice you get.

Wake turbulence won’t change but I’m optimistic that it would improve the en route structure. Yet Wash center still asks for an early decent, best forward speed then copy holding instructions... whiskey tango foxtrot! I’m glad I burned extra dinosaurs just to burn more dinosaurs.

Speaking of, we got knocked around pretty good the other day by a 737-900...we were in a rather heavily loaded 747-8. The 737 sucks so hard it transcends physics.
