After 11 years of Part 135 charter, I'M OUT. Class started on June 5th and IOE finished this week. I'm extremely thankful to be part of this company and pilot group. SWA's new training facility in Dallas is legit and they truly make you feel like part of the family the moment you are on property. Happy to be on the 121 side of the house.

Amazing how different lighting schemes can make a training facility look like a scene out of Tron

Where are you based?

Unless you are Todd.....

Congratulations! Wish I knew you were here. I was just over there for recurrent a few weeks ago and would’ve tracked you down and bought you lunch! The place isn’t perfect but the checks cash on the 5th and the 20th and the schedule flexibility is pretty great once you’re off reserve.

Enjoy IOE and your year of not buying a single meal or drink!

felt like JJ Abrams' Star Trek.

My entire class got Oakland, BUT, we already have 110 pilots behind us. Hopefully we can get off reserve in a few months.

Thanks Zap, that would have been cool. I'll PM you my employee number for crew buddy. Where are you based?

It will be longer than a few months on reserve, the slow season is coming up. Glad your behind me...I have enjoyed my time and a for beers...tough to drink on PMs...just saying...

Don’t be a Debbie downer. Holidays will be busy and the whole system is going to be reshuffling when LAX opens. I’m betting six months and he is off reserve if he’s in a junior base and the hiring continues.

Not trying to be...I’m happy he is here. It’s been a super job even on reserve. I actually prefer reserve...make more money and get more weekends off. And yes it will be interesting when they open LAX....and then St Louis then Ft Lauderdale then Nashville...I’m kidding on the last few...

Wouldn’t take much to make reserve more civil. True trip ownership where you don’t have to be in base until show time. Ability to ELITT reserve blocks. No forced seat support in the sim. Release or reassign on the last day.

I live in base and won’t bid reserve until they fix some of those issues and make reserve at least as good as it is at some regionals. (Granted the pay on reserve is a bright spot)

I agree, I hate getting back to base on Day 4 and getting the... well we might need you...but the money is addictive. Or self assign trips from open time...maybe next contract.

I’m happy to wait. Reserve in Oakland still crushes my old 6 days off a month schedule. LAX is set as my #1 domicile then OAK.
