Reminds me of an idiot I knew two jobs ago that refused to wear motorcycle helmets when riding. He said your head basically just explodes inside them when exposed to impact.
He's probably dead now.
My thoughts exactly. I know van is probably pretty heavy, but the wall that he went through is reinforced concrete, designed for this kind of scenario.

We'll probably find out that the contractor bought cheap cement or the wrong kind of rebar and the family will get a huge check.

Only if he’s qualified to be in command of the vehicle. Evidence indicates he was not. He nailed the landing roll calculation though, so maybe...

Had a random chat with that driver's neighbor yesterday. Supposedly issues with the accelerator pedal, throttle went wide open. Driver's fine though, comes back from the hospital today.
