Asiana still has a PIC is god cultural issue that is pretty well documented. The FO was most likely fully qualified. The question is, did the captain listen to them if they called out the TK tail.

One of the Malcom Gladwell books I read spoke to the culture at Korean or (Asian) airlines. You do not question the captain, regardless. Interesting yet troubling cultural aspect given the industry....

If it was Outliers then it was KLM.

It has nothing to do with racism and everything to with the Korean culture's difficulty with CRM.

Wonder how they fix that?

Does the entire aft section need to be replaced of can you simply mount a new vertical piece?

Assume the manufacture would need to do the repair or at least over see it?

That aircraft will be off the line for a really long time.

It has nothing to do with racism and everything to with the Korean culture's difficulty with CRM.

We see similar trends in our cross training with military aviators as well.

Not to say the timid “can’t call out the boss” attitude doesn’t exist in all cultures. It just really becomes popular in certain others.

At a good angle? We can see the wing on the whale, but only if you’re pretty flexible and even then, at that angle I probably wouldn’t be able to tell you if we’re gonna hit anything.

So I don't know if the bus is similar, but our hot wing only works when the slats are retracted. That is to say it only works when you don't need it.
We operate on the, it's a big fat wing and you have a lot of power theory of icing.

You can see about 15 feet of the wing on the 330.

I saw a similar repair to a smaller airframe...they jigged the whole aft fuselage and torqued the fuselage back into alignment.

Something this size? Bet they (Airbus) cut the fuselage off at the rear pressure bulkhead and replace it.

Then every crew that flies it gets to wonder if Airbus does a better job at bulkhead repairs than Boeing.

No, I'm talking mass. The weight alone won't let it spin around like a CRJ.

I wonder....

So there are a few tails in the helicopter fleet that have been hit with an RPG or similar system in the tail. 60s especially. Manufacturer does a repair from a bulkhead back and puts it back in rotation. Whether or not that aircraft flies better or worse is pretty much tail to tail dependent. I know there is an AF 60G that’s been hit twice in nearly the same spot. Apparently it flew better after the first one and worse after the second.


I wonder if this plane is gonna be somewhere in the future with an FO frantically trying and a Cpt mad as hell that he/she can’t keep it in trim to save their lives.
