Anyone know if you need to get a Radio License reissued if you change address?

The address is out of date on mine, issued 2007, I went to the website and updated my address but it didn't give an option for mailing out an updated one or anything, should I even bother? Only time anyone wants to see it is if a Fed is doing a document check and it hasn't matched my FAA cert address in a long time.

I believe change of address is free. And I assume you’re asking about a Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit, not a license.

(Stations are licensed, people other than a few exceptions are not.)

The real joy is using the FCC ULS website to change it.

Log in with your FRN and password...

Ah right, you didn’t keep those...

And then once logged in, enjoy a small window to what computers must operate like in Hell.

Genetically though, changes of address through ULS aren’t as bad as applying for station licenses.

I’ve been helping someone do station licenses for an air show for a number of years and to even assist him with it I had to dig out a Windows 95 laptop from storage that had a very specific version of Java on it.

The aeronautical station licensing web code underneath ULS that it redirects you to, hasn’t been updated since the 90s and is coded to demand a specific major and minor Java version number or it simply refuses to run.

That laptop ever dies, he’s screwed. I only keep it around for programming old commercial two-way radios that also have similar software limitations and need ancient versions of the OS and other libraries to work right.

I did it a year or so ago for an interview so all my stuff had the same address. Like @denverpilot said you can do it all online and it was free. I don’t recall the steps but the hardest part was finding what exact form you need.
