Boeing 797 in a tug-of-war with cargo space

We fly several routes where the only thing keeping us in the market is cargo. Even on our narrowbody aircraft, we've got a pretty active cargo run (yay amazon boxes!) going back and forth.
 
They retired the 737-200 which had the gravel deflectors over 10 years ago. The -400 combi, which retired a few months ago, could not land on gravel.
NAC still runs their 200 around with the gravel kit, though it's purely a freighter, not a combi.
 
I’d bet most of the young folks on here have no idea what you’re talking about when you mention Delta Express. (Or Metrojet, or Song, or Ted, or CAL Light, or United Feeder Service, or... damn I feel old)
