121 crosswind landing technique

Yum... Periphery. Always a good choice! That is a dang good sounding OD... which I'd expect nothing less from them.

For what I'm doing these days in church, I end up stacking a couple of them (Prince of Tone into Timmy... yummmmmy) to be able to really vary between nice and clean, to a bit boosted to tube screamer but better OD to full on hard/heavy.

You guys should play some August Burns Red. Phantom Anthem is an awesome album.

Airbus seems dumb. I’m glad when i finally flow to mainline it will be to the 73.

Funny thing about that... I was jumpseating on a 737-900 a while ago. FO turned around and was all giddy "this is a brand new plane!." "Geez, if you say so..." (right after I had finished putting together the erector set jumpseat and squeezed in). Even brand new, it looks and feels like it's still in the 1960s.

Meanwhile, I can walk on a 1990 delivered 320 and it still seems brand new.

Meh. I love the space and side stick. Just no desire to deal with the rest of it.

Airbus isn’t much better than the 73 technology wise. Instead of 60s it looks 80s.

Whatevs. First world probs.

That's why I played football and lifted. I may have been (still am) a nerd, but go ahead, try to stuff me in a locker. :D

You're lucky you didn’t go to my high school. The wrestlers bullied the football players. The rugby players bullied the wrestlers.

Since I played football, rugby, and wrestled, everybody left me alone.

When you check out on the 73, you'll find a lot of the flight guidance logic is shared with the bus since the NG is a response to the bus and losing sales to it. It has the speed brackets on the descent, but it does actually try to do an idle path on all descents until you get into the approach... except the bus can fly faster and not just randomly overspeed on the descent like the 73. I stopped flying the 737 above 300 knots after a few months both due to the awful cockpit noise and the fact that the plane can't do it without overspeeding randomly. Meanwhile, I'll run the 320 series around like I did the 757 at 340 knot's and she's happy as a clam (plus nice low wind noise like the 757).

Speaking of the 757, the systems from the 757 as well as descent logic is almost a rip off of it. If you're gonna rip off an airplane... that's the one to do it. They basically took the good stuff from the 757 when designing the bus in the 80s and improved on it while installing FBW. It's an airplane for nerds if you really want to master it, I'll give you that. Which is ironic given that when it first came out, there were cartoons made that you simply press up and down on it vs. a sea of buttons on the DC-9 or 727. Then again, what airplane isn't an airplane for nerds if you really want to master it?

I wrestled, too.... and we didn't have rugby. :D

Rugby truly is a real man's sport. I bow to you and will insert myself into the locker as need be when in your presence.

No need to go that far. Just take it easy on an old guy when I finally pull the trigger on the dark side!

I’ll raise you one. Blues King into Timmy is a bomb combo

AH, my former airline. Pretty sure the director of safety was PIC and a newish SIC was PF if I remember correctly. Think this was at ELP, I was still there when this happened. I forgot if I flew that plane the next week, or a buddy did. But either way, just required a bit of speed tape. As bad as that was, it barely scratched the paint fortunately.

I'm surprised the wing spar walked out of that one. I had a spar broken by a a tug hitting the aircraft where the damage looked superficial.

Not 121 but I found it interesting that in the Falcon 2000, no ailerons are used during x winds, including take off and landing. Took a bit of getting used to at first, mostly just reminding yourself to not put the aileron down on roll out or TO roll.

The incredible/sad thing is that the crew flying didn't even notice on the post flight walk around (if they did one...) It was discovered after a planespotter began uploading his pictures and then quickly went viral. My memory is fuzzy, but the next crew may have missed that as well.

What’s the reasoning for that?

On the beechjet they taught not to wing low on landing bc of the spoilerons. I think.

We have similar tastes!

In looking at this picture, I finally made a change that was a threat with the top right knob on the POG2.... I moved the Pitch Black down one slat, while maintaining enough room for input above the volume pedal's inputs. Something I've been wanting to do for a while. I'm kind of minimalist with the amount of pedals I run as the tap dance can get interesting.... much more like yours and I'd end up getting a management system that I could program to cycle them through scenes. More time with programming, but much less "ah crap I gotta make 4 moves here... what's the most efficient order?"

Do you land with crab or what?? Kicking and hoping doesn't do well to keep you on centerline, haha.
