How many pilots ACARSd for game updates? I remeber reading how some airlines didnt show the game in their ops centers.

You could have left them in suspense til they landed like ATC does with the "ive got a number for you to call when you land" routine.

When that happens, there is no question why they gave you the number. There is no suspense, only dread.

About half of mine. One flight asked if there was a final score yet, and I replied, "Yes, the game just ended." Of course, I did follow up with the score after a minute or so...I'm not THAT mean.
When ever I get asked over ACARS “hey you know what the score was in the big game?” I like to respond with international cricket scores. “Yes captain, India beat Wales by 14 wickets” being clear is important.

Also like to just give the score without saying which team has which. "What is the score of the game?" "It's 14-7"

This is why we have a dedicated ACARS address which automajically sends the scores.
isnt it GDS or something then it spits out the scores for every team and sport? Must be cumbersome to have to scroll page thru page til you get the score you want.

GDS? Never heard of it. Ours goes through Atlanta Radio, Delta’s in-house, private network.

IIRC part of the channel is has GDS in it for Game Day Scores. But do pilots actually use it or do you get a score request every now and then. Speaking of ATL radio, do deltas subsidiaries such as Endeavor have the benefit of using it or do they have to contact ARINC in SFO for radios?
