I find that V1 cuts in the Q400 are cake compared to engine failures at 300 feet. However it is the opposite of engine failures in the SAAB. In the SAAB the V1 cut was far more challenging.I guess. I’d much rather have a failure airborne than at V1. Never had an issue with them, even in the E120. YMMV.
