709 Signoff

I have a private pilot client who needs to take the 709 ride. How do I sign them off? I understand there is not a "Ready for 709 practical" type of endorsement. But the client now flies on a Temporary Student Pilot certificate. Do I administer the pre-solo knowledge test and give the standard 61.87 endorsements?

Also what happens if the 709 ride is busted? Does it count against my first time pass ratio? Or more generally does go on my record in any way or form (Neither I nor FBO was involved in their training prior to the incident that led to 709)?

Retrain them by what his 709 letter states will be tested during the 709 and then sign off only what you did.
Make sure they are to whatever standards the 709 says, private, commercial, or ATP.
If they fail it does not go against your record, only against them and they should be offered a second chance.

He's a private pilot. But his certificate is suspended pending the ride. He's got a temporary certificate from the FAA which if I understand correctly gives student pilot privileges only.

Sign off how exactly? Just log the dual time given and that's it? No endorsements?
Just like you would if all you did was steep turns and stalls etc. Just enter in his log book what you did and sign it like you would a normal flight lesson. He doesn’t require a sign off to take a 709.
