Why do something ridiculous like that? The whole point is to fly low and slow.
Eh, Luscombes were designed to fly fast, that's why they do almost 100 mph on 65 hp, leave it to the Cubs and Champs to go low and slow ;-)
A few of my friends have 8As with the C85 and see 105mph regularly. It really is a bargain of an airplane. A little smaller than a C150, cheap to operate and decent speed on 4-5gph.

Any tailwheel endorsement recommendations for next summer?
Last year the SuperCub I used to teach in was totaled, otherwise I'd offer to do it for you. There is also a 7GCBC we could use, but it isn't as cool as a PA18.

I have an 8E with a C85 and cruise prop. I CAN get 110 or so on a cold, calm day. I choose to go slower! It’s a great plane overall, in my opinion!

How tall of a prop are you turning? My buddies are running 71/49 or 71/51 with theirs.

I tried the supercub on floats at Kenmore and it was basically 'why are you so lazy, your feet should be on the rudders all the time' so got er done in the Aviat Husky in FL.

Budd Davisson said the widgeon is a true tailwheel so best to have the endorsement (the argument against was it was a multiengine w/no rudder pedal interconnect).
