American Airlines job fair

Like I said most are fine. But the bad ones are awful. And I most definitely care bc I have to work with them all the time and they will represent a large percentage of our pilot group in a few years.

There should definitely be an interview required before you can flow. The guy I’m currently flying with is a prime example.

Probably 75% of the fo's I've flown with since I upgraded have been envoy flows. They all did a great job, had good attitudes, and were a pleasure to fly with. Granted, it's still a small sample size, but thats what I've seen so far.

So, here are the things discussed today from the head of pilot recruitment, and the manager of pilot recruitment...

1. 79% of non-flow pilots are "military trained aviators".
2. AA weighs military time heavier than civilian time, including 121 chief pilot and instructor/ check airmen time, in the process.
3. If military aviator, currency is not important, within reason (discussion was 1-2 years riding a desk, it's all good. 4-5 years, go rent a Cessna for a bit)
4. This job fair doesn't count at all in any way for AA.
5. They did not take resumes, which they had originally said they would.

As for my meeting with the manager of recruiting (non pilot), she said she had no way of looking up my records via PRIA, and that I'm an unknown. I told her I have all of my training records with the schoolhouses and had written the FAA and received all my records prior to going overseas. She said apply and we'll see...

So, that was worth it. Haha. I get a free concert in a couple of hours, so there's that.

From APC:

“It was a job fair put on for vets today. A full house of pilots came from all over the country and when we get there they say they aren't taking resumes and it attendence isn't tracked and won't help you at all.

Bus to the airport was a bunch of ****ed off guys. Some brought thier wives. Everyone was out at least a few hundred $$.”

Wow.

Not your mama’s job fair! You’re right.... mama would have at least taken a resume. And by mama I assume they’re talking about Delta. Heck, mama scores your application too.

For our vets and their families, what an absolute joke, waste of time and money, and an insult to each and every single one of them.
