Bose vs Lightspeed vs ??

I'm in the final process of buying a Cessna 182 and need headset recommendations. My 20 year old David Clark 10-13ENC still works, but I can pass that on to the passenger side.

This will be a GA only headset. I use the UFlyMike for work.

Most of my GA flying will be under two hours.

The used Zulu 2 market is very reasonable, but I'm not opposed to paying the Bose tax if they're indeed that much better.

Anyone with real world experience on the Bose X vs. A20?

My dad shopped for 6 months on Ebay and finally got a Bose A20 w/Bluetooth on Ebay for $500. Looked just like new. They are much better than the Bose X. I have a few thousand hours on each the Bose x, the A20, and the Zulu. I personally like the A20 the best.

Disclaimer: Bose may have sponsored me to promote their A20 as a Master Flight Instructor, so I may be biased. ;)

Bose are great until you forget to bring your spare batteries. The PNR is not so good. Having that been said the ANR is fantastic.

All my co-workers fly with the Bose, but when I tried it on, it didn't fit well and I thought the Zulu was much more comfortable, that being said, definently try them on before you drop the $$.

Yep. Headsets are sort of like shoes in that respect. What one person loves might be uncomfortable for the next.

I've had Bose A20 for about 2 years. Used them in GA and work...love them! 10/10 would recommend them!

I loooved my Zulu 1s over the Bose X.
Problem is in the Diamond Zulus don't cancel the particular whistle of the air vents for some reason. Came across some A20s and been flying them since GA and for work. Still have two pairs of Zulu 1s I should part with, but haven't found a reason to do so yet.

Lightspeed tends to support their products much longer than Bose does. I sold my X when I learned Bose stopped selling down cords for it. If it broke again it would become an expensive paper weight.

PM sent... I sell tons of used headsets and do lots of testing in the 8 airplanes I fly. My testing the Lightspeeds are better than the Bose and I sell both brands. The Lightspeed PFX is the best of the best. I am doing them at $699

You might want to demo a pair of David Clark's One-X. I've been using a pair for over a year and mostly prefer them to my A20s. They're $100 cheaper than the A20s and made in the USA.

My Bose A20s have worked great in the sled, my Taylorcraft, and the Saab. I've tried Lighspeeds before, they are nice but I thought the Bose were better. Sometimes Bose will have a promotion and throw in a cool Bluetooth speaker, got me to bite.

I recently got a pair of the Zulu 3's. Just as good as the other lightspeed products but with the kevlar cord and 7 year warranty, will surely outlast anything else.

I wish I could have found someone that actually owns a pair of the pfx to flight test it against the zulu 3.

Definitely go try them on. I tried on the Bose and Lightspeed, and instantly went with Lightspeed. They fit so much better.

I've been using my A20's for the last year and a half (both while I was instructing in Diamonds/Cessnas and now in the CRJ). The ability to listen to music, ANR, and comparatively light weight/clap force compared to my old DC's is what I enjoy about them. That being said, whichever headset you decided on, if they require batteries I highly recommend getting some rechargeable batteries.

Put me in the Lightspeed camp. If I needed a clamp style I'd go with them. I had A20s and while the ANR was terrific, I didn't think they were comfy. Lightspeed has been the most comfortable of the head clamps.
You could also get a Halo...
