1) Not specifically ASA pilots, just the DECs in general. Many jumped over from Endeavor when things weren't looking good there. And to their credit at the time it looked like a great move. Others jumped ship from Envoy, TSA, etc.
2) Last I heard there were almost 150 eligible FOs bypassing company-wide at PSA. The pay difference between a line-holding FO who can take advantage of the SAP, work the contract and make extra money, and still have any day they want off compared to a reserve CA with no schedule flexibility and only 11 days off /month is pretty negligible and in some cases would be a pay cut.
I'm off usually anywhere from 16-19 days /month and I'm still usually able to credit about 65-80 hours on an average month. Add in the annual $10,000 retention bonus I'm getting and the pay difference versus the quality of life hit I would take makes very little sense in our current hiring environment. There are a few other personal (family events) reasons I'm bypassing but truthfully the lack of pay incentive combined with the hit to my quality of life are the main factors.
