Does anyone know when the position will be posted for externals? Thanks!
This is how Delta deals with usurperous externals.

How bout this. They are hiring flight attendants. You could do that then you'd be in a position as an internal transfer. That, or work the ramp.
I am afraid to ask because I can only imagine what might be posted but here it goes....I see this all the time. What are they referring to when someone says a "Troll Detected"? I know I am like the only one that probably don't know.Go read through my previous posts. I'm not a troll dude. Just asked a question.
What's the point of this thread if externals cannot apply- but don't apply if you do not have dx experience.

Thank you! I have learned something today!

Kind of moving in the opposite direction I think. What is the likelihood that the other majors will start to hire only internals for DX? Is internal hiring becoming a trend in the industry?
That's deep broh. Both DL and WN have a long history of hiring internals exclusively. They started to hire externals when the supply of internal applicants could not keep up with demand of needing more bodies when retirements started to roll around (or growth of more aircraft).
The external hiring spree for all the majors is pretty unprecedented right now (or the past few years I should say). Thinking this is the norm and in turn getting upset when hiring goes back to how it use to be is misdirected anger in my opinion. The point of view should actually be lucky to the externals who got to sneak in when normally they would have had no shot in the first place.
Each airline has different philosophies of what makes a great dispatcher. To each his own correct? Find a place you think you could thrive in instead of being angry over something none of us can control.

Example. If ATL has thunderstorms forecast it's perfectly ok to send a flight with 15 minutes of extra gas and MGE as an alternate so we don't kick off any payload. An actual quote I received from one of their dispatchers.
This line of thinking is beyond unsafe and is an insult to our profession.
Sorry, but I gotta throw the BS flag. Granted, I've only been looking at Delta flight plans for the last 17 years, but I've never seen any flight plan with fuel planning like that. As a matter of fact, MGE is listed as an off-line alternate for all fleets, which means it can only be used when any other on-line alternate is not legal to use. Which means never.
You sure it was a mainline dispatcher and not an Expressjet one? Now, I've seen some pretty sketchy plans when I was as ASA.
Throw the BS flag. I wish I could give you the proof publicly, but I do have to protect the innocent.

Like I said, never seen anything remotely like that. If I did, you can bet TSWHTF when I reject the flight plan. MGE is an illegal alternate as long as any other regular alternate is legal. You know that whole AAL thing? From Op Specs?
We routinely tanker fuel all over the place and leave revenue behind every day.
I think off-line alternate is slightly deceiving. If you look in the C070, KMGE is listed as an alternate for all fleet types and off-line isn't specified. The subfleet table excel spreadsheet is the where it's listed as off-line. Correct me if I'm wrong.
