Horizon

40 first year and 46 second. A good way to figure out the earnings is taking the hourly rate and multiplying it by the min guarantee. I wouldn't recommend on getting much more than that on the Q, not sure about the jet. Heck, I don't even know if anyone at JC is on the QX ERJ at the moment...

So 40x70 is 2800 a month pre tax. So probably close to 1000 a paycheck take home. Then per diem about 400-500 more a month I believe, that is tax free as it should be.

Second year about 3,200 pre tax a month. So maybe 1250ish take home every two weeks.

JDean's numbers sound pretty accurate, based on what I remember about the FO pay scale. Regarding premium pay, there's a lot more open time in the Q400 than there is in the jet, probably because of the much larger number of turboprops in our fleet. At the present time, there's around 300 open trips on the captain side, and 150 or so on the FO side. This is a lot of open time. Horizon is a relatively small company, with about 500 "active" line pilots. There's another 150 or so pilots in training, on leave, or in management.

As a new hire, you may request a particular aircraft type or base, but the company is going to put you where they need you (i.e., Medford in the Q400). You may not be able to pick up open time on reserve, so don't count on being able to pick up premium pay.

Our reserve pilots are getting slammed right now. Crew Scheduling is basically trying to cover as many flights as possible by running the reserves until they hit their duty time limits.

It is possible to pick up trips on reserve, but I was told that I would have to agree to be "junior manned" if I picked up a trip on my days off. All I wanted to do was to fly a turn for premium pay, not get stuck doing a two- or three-day trip. This was a few months ago, so things might have changed. I'm just saying that anyone that comes to work here can't really count on being able to pick up premium on their days off (while on reserve).

During contract negotiations a few years ago, the union floated a proposal that would have allowed reserve pilots to pick up open trips that coincided with their reserve period. In other words, you could trade three days of a.m. reserve for a three-day trip starting on the same day. I really liked this idea, but the company wouldn't go for it. The reserve staffing levels are so low that any kind of self-assignment inhibits Crew Scheduling's ability to cover trips.

In short, reserve is awful.

Oh I don't know, thanks to Crew Support not calling me last week I managed to get an unplanned 11 days in a row sitting around the house. Reserve at home when you aren't getting called (and have other stuff to do) is pretty nice.
I got f'd to death last week.

I know Flica is new to most at QX. Just wondering why yesterday the sep bid was published, and not today. I'm hoping they are still awarding bids. I am GEG based but it looks Like they pulled 16 FO's out of PDX for upgrade. Trying to see if I'll squeak into PDX soon. I wish this system was more transparent, like showing standing bids and domicile Vacancy reports. Or maybe there is, and this is a case of user error.

Bro you literally just started at QX.

Relax.

Just trying to figure out the bidding system and if there is anyway to look into where I would fall as far as bases go. This Flica stuff is foreign to me. Also, commuting already gives me anxiety, not sure if you've heard about why I literally just had to start at QX. I'll be like a scared cat and just never go home while commuting lol

So you miss the completely inaccurate transparency? [emoji23]

Yea we all heard. But you're already wishing things were different. Just some friendly unsolicited advice: Chill. Embrace the suck. Relax. Etc. It'll all work out.

Not really wishing things were different but I hear ya. Just thought maybe someone would know more about this Flica jazz.

Generally speaking, how difficult is it to fly non-rev with family? Are they mostly over booked where it's better to just pay for the tickets or?

If one wanted to travel to Asia, are there any flight benefits/agreements Horizon have with Asian carriers?

Horizon has 70 hour min guarantee. How did this number come about? I ask because most regionals offers 75 hour guarantee. Is this something the pilot group wanted since no more SAP or?

Thank you
