Departure roll abort with hot brakes, evacuation

You blow a slide, you're guaranteed injuries. If the pax are not in danger, why evacuate via slides?

And it sounds like "hot brakes" happened after due to the abort itself. Don't know about the 757, but the Bus gives a "hot brakes" ECAM when the temp goes to 300 C, and happens quite a bit in just a normal landing without even trying much.

Meanwhile, the 737 doesnt even have a brake temperature guage.

Whenever you don't have a "Hot Brakes" on the ECAM, it's like "I wonder is the monitor working?" :)

LOL...300 isn't that hot as you see it on a lot of landings. Now if start getting north of 400 you were on then pretty good. The plugs shouldn't go until about 800.

go to love the brake FANS

Derg, what's louder Brake Fans on the Airbus or Pack Fans on the 727?

My landing in SNA during IOE, oooooo weeee! SPICY!

I think the pack fans are louder, but then I was also in my mid 20's the last time I walked around a 727 and my hearing wasn't shot yet.

Rampers hate brake fans...when we call inside and make them drag them out.to cool the 717 brakes....

I got drenched to the bone one time doing a walk around on the 727. 5 minutes under the pack fan exhaust had me completely dry....worlds largest hand dryer.

LOL that is why they are built in on the Airbus, unless you don't order that option...

LOL, just don't get to close to the fan intake. it has some pretty good suction. I think the best was when we went to customs in LRD (still at the pax terminal then) and the guys in the silver suits get call and surround the airplane. The packs were putting out so much water the gate agent inside called in a fuel spill....

We got brake fans? I miss the old school, "just put the gate air hose on 'em!"
