PSA Hiring...

I understand what you're saying, but I have to get IN the business first. I'm hoping that I'll get an offer from GoJet, because THAT is where I want to go...

I have to GET an offer first; I have to GET that first job somewhere. If that somewhere is PSA, then so be it. As I've said before, beggars (i.e. rookie dispatchers with 0 experience like me) can't be choosers...

I don't, but I have family there. Also, I like the city and would like to be there. Unfortunately, I did not EMPHASIZE that enough during the interview.

I was a rookie dispatcher with that mindset once

You may be rookie, but you have more experience than I do.

I asked the recruiting coordinator for GoJet (with whom I get along with well) to pass along to the interviewer that I WANT to be @ GoJet and STL. It can't hurt. I hope and pray I get it; that's where I WANT to go! If I can't go to GoJet, I'll apply to TSA when they have an opening again...

The thing I've learned about interviews is to not be an empty vessel. Don't go in there reeking of desperation ("Please give me a job!"). Go in, know your stuff, and just be who you are. Don't try to be what you think they want you to be.

I wasn't desperate, believe me. I have money in the bank, and I have other options which I'm pursuing. I calmly answered the technical and other questions, and I was who I am. That said, I SHOULD have better conveyed my desire to be in the STL area. Oftentimes, employers are concerned about transplants not liking the area and leaving quickly; for me, this is not the case, but I did not CONVEY that.

SkyWest still hires people and I'm not sure anyone really wants to be in St. George.
 
Luigi makes a good point. Most airlines are in places people don't WANT to be in but still have to hire people so I wouldn't beat yourself up too hard that you did not CONVEY that in the INTERVIEW.

I heard that, if you're an outdoorsy type person, that St. George is a GREAT place to be! I did some research on St. George, and it appears to be a small city-more like a town, really. That said, I understand it's a couple of hours from Vegas, and it's great for those who like outdoor type activities.
