Cujo Attacks

"that the crew saw him weeping, repeatedly saying, "I know they're going to put him down."

Probably, no matter why the dog did it...

Just no winners in this story :(

I get the use of bringing dogs on airplanes that detect seizures but I really don't completely understand the use of an emotional support animal.

Ill bet this is not a legitimately trained support animal.
Of course not, service animals usually aren't attacking folks. I don't even know what kind of training a ESA gets, but this who ESA deal has gotten out of hand. There was a dog in DTW last week just barking away at a legitimate service animal. Then someone else walks up with what I can guess was a ESA, and it starts to bark and growl also, meanwhile this man is trying to read how to get to the tram with his service animal. Not to mention there has been serveral F/A's that have been bitten by them.

Someone suggested my wife buy the dog the red smock so he could travel with her to Florida a few weeks ago.

I almost became unglued and wanted to hunt that person down and probably destroy her friendship.

The ESA thing is getting out of hand. A few years ago, this lady had four right next to be in coach and they were rowdy AF.

Emotional Support Animals have gotten out of control on planes, largely because you can literally search online, submit a paper or two and some bucks, and have an official certification that you are allowed an ESA to travel with you. It's a scam.

All due respect to Maximillian, I know he has a tough line of work and he sees people who could legitimately use an ESA to better their own life, but on planes these days, it largely seems like a scam.

Sat next to a passenger with an ESA dog from DTW-EWR and that dog growled numerous times at my (aisle seat) and the middle seat passenger, and barked at us. I didn't get any feeling that this animal had been trained in any manner to be an ESA. More like the passenger throwing on an ESA costume on the dog and off we go to save a few bucks and travel with the dog on them.

The problem is there is a difference between a real emotional support animal, and one that has just been registered so it can live in someones apartment complex. I met someone at a wedding that was involved in the PG&E pipeline blast, their counselor was able to get them an emotional support animal to help with treatment. It was a small Pomeranian and probably the best behaved dog I had ever seen. She did not pick the animal out, or even the breed, it was given to her through her counselor. The dog was able to detect her emotions and when she was having a difficult time it would move over to sit in her lap. This was a trained ESA that had a job, not just a pet someone wanted to bring on an airplane without paying for it.

Naw... the ones brought in to psych hospitals are all properly licensed/registered and trained animals, by an approved company. Due to liability. In case a situation similar to this occurs. But also because if an ESA is say on our children & adolescent units. The kids tend to swarm the dogs, so they need to be taught to be calm and not display anger and bite as a defensive measure.

I would think that most ESA's that a major company is going to allow on their premises, are going to have to be with an approved and licensed company. The problem in cases like this is that these are individuals with "ESA's". Not licensed and bonded companies, with proof of registered animals and certified training on file.

I find animals funny. They are mostly unintelligent, smell, crap in your house/yard and we pay money to own them. I'll always remember the Seinfeld where Jerry says "aliens are going to think dogs run our would because when they look down at earth they will see the idiots out there picking up their crap. Anyone who gets their feces picked up by another is obviously in charge."

My dog makes sure to look me right in the eye while she's crapping on my lawn. But then again she looks me right in the eye while I'm on the toilet too. Still not sure which is more creepy/unnerving.
