Fedex pilot career expo, 3 May 2017

Seriously? "As competition for the most highly qualified and talented Pilots intensifies". For the love of God get over yourself.
Huh, I read that as "the cream is getting skimmed off the top, we need to be on our recruitment game" more than anything else.

Any carrier that you want to work at...........put out the sincere effort and make yourself available for the opportunity to meet, greet, learn something and make contacts. Or don't. It's that simple.

This.

Even if it doesn't give you a leg up, showing the interest and being able to bring that up at a later date certainly can't hurt your chances.

Same with job fairs. Imagine going into an interview and someone introduces themselves to you and your response is "Oh, good to see you again! I met you at the ________ 5 years ago."

May scheds are out for us secondary lineholders; I'll be on a trip during the Expo, unfortunately.

Good luck to those of you going!

What's that, is that leftover trips from vac and conflicts? Is it solely trips only on this line or do you have both regular trips and reserve days for the secondary line?

Yes, and it can be either. Most are all trips, but as you get near the end it can turn into a mix of trips and reserve or just all reserve.

Like @TallWeeds said, very nice event. Only thing I wish they had was a "recruiter" booth or something like that to ask questions about hiring more one on one. Almost all of the volunteers were current line pilots of varying seniority. That was nice to ask typical lifestyle of a FedEx pilot, but none of them were up to speed on hiring. Overall I'm glad I went.

none of them were up to speed on hiring.

Considering the changes that have recently occurred in the hiring process (the PE system, the new head of pilot hiring, etc), there are only about four people in the company who are legitimately "up to speed on hiring", unfortunately. FX doesn't have pilot recruiters like other airlines do who are knowledgeable and part of the process.
