Don't care to read the whole thread but our flight last night was delayed a whole 2:45. There was a couple in FC we could see that was being complete you know whats to the FAs the whole flight, we land and they charge off the airplane. Most around are relieved to see them gone. We show up to rental car bus and there they are. Wife is laying down huffing and puffing about how hard her day was and how irresponsible the airline was for being late etc. We stop and our 2.5 year old daughter tries to make a beeline off, thankfully my wife saw what was coming and quickly grabbed her as the pissed off couple, oblivious to anyone but themselves stands up and forcefully pushes everyone out of the way to be first in line. Last but not least as we exit to go get our car we hear someone laying on a car horn my wife says "that can't be them can it?" Sure enough, instead of going to ask for help with their minivan they decided laying on the horn until someone shows up is more appropriate. Sorry for the long post but people are insane when traveling lately. Sad.

You know depending on what seat you sit in up front and what seniority you have at your airline you probably make more money than that guy. And that's probably the only thing he would understand.
Sheesh. People who can't mind their own business and worry what's on their own plate of food, rather than what's on everyone else's .
How people willingly live as such miserable beings in their daily life, never ceases to surprise me.
It really is amazing and I wonder if it's unique to airports and traveling or if people are generally just that crappy to each other all the time. Waiting on my flight last week this older couple sat down next to me at the gate and almost immediately were being snotty and snippy with each other over minor, minor crap like not being able to connect to the airport wifi. it's almost hard not to look at them and play Dr. Phil and wonder how they could treat each other so badly over inconsequential things. Full flight too, almost the entire plane seemed like it was made up of 200 some odd couples bickering and fighting over stupid stuff. Amazing. I get that it's stressful for people who don't do it much... but I've never thought "you know what would help the situation... if I started acting like a total jackass!"
Or the fact that I'd be willing to bet a majority of people that are in first class regularly aren't footing the bill themselves either. It always seems to me like the people that aren't used to it and get a brief taste of "luxury" are the most pompous about it.

There are of course exceptions, but I've found that a lot of people who are very rich dress and act extra casual. They're laid back because life is easy. The few times I had to help out celebrities or people that I later figured out were mutli-millionaires, they were some of the easiest pax to re-accommodate.
Happy people aren't usually hard to be around.

From my days on the ramp, the mega rich were some of our favorites and it didn't have to do with tipping either. Some of them didn't. It didn't really matter if they were late to a meeting, it would wait for them.
The minor millionaires were the worst. Someone who I can imagine could barely afford their netjets share and made all kinds of ridiculous unreasonable demands. I could tell you some stories.

My favorites were those who always seemed on edge and stressed about their image. They'd be on the board of some weird startup, and on their way to raise more cash. Each time you'd see em, they'd be more stressed and anxious. Eventually the wheels fall off and you don't see them anymore, and read about their problems with the law/government/tax man in the newspaper.

There are exponentially more people flying these days than in the 'Good Ole' Days.' Project the percentage of d'bags from then to now, and there may not be a much higher percentage of self-centered idiots exerting their gawd-given 'right' to be a'holes.
But three things are different: The amount of less-than-controlled rage in society is much higher, the expectation of civility is lower, and the gasoline-on-a-fire effect of ubiquitous cameras and the 24 hour news cycle.
In a perverse way, all those cameras have given more people the idea that they can right a wrong merely by exposing it. In a world where they feel they have less control over their lives. more are willing to take (often-inappropriate) action in what they see as a just cause.
It elected a President, after all.

I think my absolute worst was a guy who was some kind of surgeon married to a tech CEO superstar. The CEO had her own jet but for some reason this guy had a netjets share and drove an early or mid 80's 911 that was literally, like, falling apart, peeling paint, torn seats everything....
We would park customer cars inside the gates but as you can imagine after a week at an airport they got pretty grimy so we had a detailing crew that worked weekdays washing the customer cars the day before they would return. They wouldn't always get to every car but they did the best they could. This guy got his 911 washed once and all of a sudden started demanding that it be washed every time.
Once he had about a 4 hour trip on a Sunday and said "have my car washed when I get back." I explained that the detail crew wasn't there on Sundays so we couldn't and apologized. He went ballistic. Went to my supervisor and demanded that I be fired for my rudeness, said he'd never use our FBO again, blah blah blah. But, like, it was netjets so I don't think he really had a choice.

Oh yeah they do that...all the damn time. Hell, I had a lady show up with her giant, full, cylinder of O2 the other week. Seriously, how does that get by the gate agent? One guy, just yesterday, walked on the plane with an open beer can. Gate agents want nothing more than to push issues down to the jet and let us deal with them. Get the people out of their hair so they can go to the break room.
Another beauty they pull: have an EDCT for 2 hours from now? Well let's just board on time and the pax can sit on the jet with the door open for an hour until push. That crap doesn't fly for me though. If we board, we're pushing when done. No chance I'm sitting at the gate, ready to go, for any extended amount of time, while the entire crew now has the responsibility for our passengers and we're unpaid. Nope, not happening. Either you keep them up in the terminal, or we board and go sit in the penalty box waiting for our EDCT. Those are the only two options.
