Living the dream part III

I'm a flaps 1 kinda guy. More drag, less noise, doesn't shake the plane as much. And we don't have "spindles" anymore on the NG. If Boeing didn't want you using flaps 1 for drag why does VNAV automatically lock into geometric when as soon as you select flaps?

But flaps 1 is hardly any drag. 2 sure, but 1 not so much.

It's not the flaps that give you the drag. It's 1/2 the slats

Getting bent out of shape about people doing something their SOP allows them to do... Or people not following another airlines SOP is... Well.. Odd.
Before you were on the E-Jet, it was challenge and response; I much prefer this approach for a smattering of reasons, some of them good.

You and most everyone else. Carry on.
In the "old" SOP it was worded that flaps were put down on pushback....not sure why or their reasoning but that's Mecca wanted it. Now it just says you "may do certain flow items in the push, including flaps" or verbiage similar. Guess people couldn't break the habit, but they are still technically within SOP.....

At my shop you don't even touch the flap handle until it's called for and especially not when you're being pushed.

Wait, oh crap, I gave a perspective based on the company I work for, cue up the haterade from @Seggy and @Cherokee_Cruiser
Tell that to 90% of the captains I fly with. They can't get their damn hands off the flap and gear handle until I call for it! In my year at the airline, that's one of my biggest pet peeves. I know I'm still new but I kind of know how to fly and when to add gear and flaps.
