Living the dream part III

Yea i had the same problem as a Controller but i made the mistake of telling the other controllers that i hated when folk touched the scope, so those butt holes would purposely cover the display with finger and hand prints and to make it even worse they would hide the glass cleaner and paper towels so i could not clean it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BASTARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a controller start marking chairs that a particular controller used. So when he went on break we marked them all.

Don't ever tell a controller what you don't like.

When I was an AF controller we would break into people's lockers, take their hat, put it in a bowl of water and then freeze it into a block of ice. Good times.

As a co-pilot, do you have to fly the plane/departure/arrival, exactly how the captain wants/expects you too? Even if your technique is different, but safe and SOP?

If you're not flying with a micro managing jackass, then fly the SOP and whatever you prefer to get the job done.

Unfortunately some captains are insecure in their abilities and try to push their technique on everyone. Fortunately this is rare.

The speedbrake thing is odd. Back in the day, it was a sign of bad technique, but if you don't have a paw full of speedbrake on 757/767, 330's or 320's you're going to come out with a real crappy result in descent planning.

I heard it came from SWA. Had a captain get on me about using them once at Delta Express.

Had a few questions for him.

1. Are they safety tied off?
2. Is there written guidance in the FOM to not use them?
3. Why did the manufacturer put them on the plane if you can't use them?

Then I completely ignored him and left them out.

Hahahahah....yea...um, no.

If I'm flying within parameters (SMAC, as we Northies used to say), then what I do is what I do. If someone want's to be a micro-manager, then "it's your leg chief, let me know when you want the gear"....

Fortunately, my current airplane is extraordinarily tolerant of less than stellar planning....

Oh hell, he should have known better. Back in the express days, you're coming in from the north and when ATC says, "cross BITHO at..." and you're not already reaching for the speed brake handle, you're going to be high.

What equipment type is that?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: 121 flying is a team sport, and the team works better when they're on the same page.

Longer answer: There are some dicks out there... but I've encountered very few of them..

Wait, you mean we aren't supposed to use the speed brakes? Ever? I demand a redo of my flight this morning. I know it was an empty repo and the only person who knows is my captain, but for the glory of the MAF and my own personal honor, I demand someone send me back to Milwaukee and give me another empty 900 to fly to MSP so that I might descend with dignity and keep the speed brakes safely and snugly closed and unused!
