UAL Pilots Sentenced to Jail Time in Glasgow

It's self-selecting. You know what is legal and sane or you don't. Particularly in 121. You know when you have to show up, they freaking TELL you! The thing that astonishes me is that dudes who must be seasoned drinkers somehow manage to screw it up at age 40-whatever. Look at your watch. Draw on in grease pencil, if you must. When the little hand gets to "uhoh", go to your room and drink some water. Rookie mistakes all around.

Not to downplay what happened, but 10 and 15 months seems pretty harsh. These guys would do better getting treatment somewhere, not rotting in a Scottish prison for a year.
I'm sorry but no.

You throw up your hands and say "man I've got a problem and I need help" from home, from a hotel, from a bar, from your doctor's office - great; you deserve every bit of help you can possibly get, you deserve support from your fellow pilots, your company, your union, your family, and your friends.

You ignore it, minimize it, or try and hide it and continue to operate flights - you absolutely deserve to be removed and punished. These guys were on the airplane:

Grebenc was asked to disembark with Licona as police also had suspicions regarding him.

Had a waitress at a sports bar near a layover hotel tell me one time she can identify the pilots who come in. When she asks them what they want to drink, the first thing they do is look at their watch and then either order a drink or just water.

Everything in this life happens on a schedule, even my friggin BM's!

"Hmm, I feel a little bubble in my gut, must be about 6am."

Must not be frequented by freight pilots, if so there would be a third group that looks at the times and orders multiple drinks.

I'm barely in my late 20's and I pretty much skip the light buzz phase right into the "I feel like crap" phase. I want a refund.
My tolerance has seemed to go up as I've gotten older...I've become quite the expensive date. Maybe it's just because you drink less, which is good.
