Anything larger than a cell phone now banned for Carryon?

The TSA needs to stick to what they are good at...

Hmm. Maybe this is becoming a thing. TSA clerk in CVG made me pull my iPad out of my bag and run it separately this past Friday.

Government gets intelligence on a possible imminent threat about a passenger carrying XYZ and plans to do XYZ. Really think we should start holding public town halls to see if we all agree we should step up security in an area?

That intelligence should not be considered credible unless it also includes a possible suspect or suspects. "Everybody" is not a suspect and shouldn't be treated as one.

Its targeted towards certain carriers to certain destinations at the moment.

I fear that we all have political battle stations that we are so used to jumping to now that when something of actual consequence comes about we wont even see it.

Not to mention this would be a huge problem for nearly every airline that has been investing heavily in passengers using iPads and such as personal entertainment devices rather than typical seatback IFE. I really hope this is nothing more than a rumor.

Pretty clearly more skullduggery from Suthernjets. First they steal JetBlue's gates now they're trying maintain their hideous IFE empire through turrurism!

We have two reliable reports from actual pilots here that it was at local CONUS airports. CMH and CVG.
Because they were asked to put an iPad in a bin? That's different than a ban on inflight usage from targeted airlines and city pairs. I dislike the TSA and this administration and the CF they are as much as anyone, but I am willing to assume they are doing this to disrupt a planned attack they have intelligence on. If they extend it worldwide in purpituity "just in case" then it will be a different story.

TSA? Intelligence?

No.

TSA? Intelligence?

No.

They don't operate any, but like State Department Travel advisories they do operate on the feeding trough of DIA Intel dumps which guide policy.

I'm amazed at the shock of people that actions like this to disrupt possible movements against us are occurring. Yes interruptions to the status quo or inconvenient, but interrupting your steady state patterns are one of the most effective tools to deter and subvert hostile tactics.

There are actually a large number of airports/carriers being reviewed at the moment who will possibly lose their direct access to US airports because that first line security/customs they operate are so abhorrently inadequate we need to route those people through second stage screenings at a place like Heathrow or Frankfurt in order to insure the moron in Kuwait/Bahrain/etc wasn't just Inshalla'ing people through when he is sitting at an X-ray scanner that hasn't worked in months.

Sorry if that sounds like a rant, but I just went through Kuwait International the other day with most of my Brigade S2 element and we were astounded at the stuff we saw.

I had to pull my laptop out in Miami the other day at one checkpoint, an hour later it was fine in the bag at another at the same airport. It's more likely just incompetence.
