Best Way to Prepare for ADX Written?

The ADX Written is so out of date it isn't even funny. It was out of date when I took mine, and that was over 20 years ago. It could use a major overhaul to bring it into the 21st century, but this is the FAA we're talking about, so...anyhow, congrats to all who have passed recently.

I don't know if you went to Sheffield, but I'm signed up to go. Anyway, their study materials have a total of 1,731 questions. I wonder why they have so many?

Yeah, right! They still have questions about the B-727, a plane that's been out of service for years...

I had students that took the exam last year and daid their are 727 questions. I agree though that they need to update the airctaft type. The reason I hear they use it is because the systems for it are easier.

That's how many questions are in the bank for the written. When you take it, it will be 80 randomly chosen from that bank.

I don't think that's accurate. Sheppard's bank is 1,101 and all 80 questions on my test were found in the Sheppard software. They even guarantee you won't see a question on your real test that isn't in the software.

That's what I thought, that there were 1,101 questions total. I was curious as to why Sheffield's study materials have 1,731; that's what I counted when I went through all their pdf files.
 
When I got my ticket in '13 while at FS, I was "trained" for the B737. FAA O&P was based on the B737 too.

Seems each brand of study guide has a very different number of questions in the total bank. My current Sheppard air version has 1105 ADX specific questions. 2017 Gleim software has 1617 specific ADX questions. I really don't want to track down each question and find which one is included in each database and which isn't. My guess is the Gleim has included all questions that ask the same thing but are worded somewhat differently. Or possibly Gleim hasn't pulled questions that are no longer in the FAA test bank.
