From the people conducting interviews.

Dispatchers have asked me for information about the New Hire Dispatch interviews and hiring process. Here is some information that is ok to pass along:* A New Hire class of 10-12 is planned to begin in early January.* Between 400 and 500 individuals applied for the position.* There are key attributes that HR considers in determining which candidates are forwarded to Dispatch for consideration.* Approximately 50 recommendations were received for candidates.* All candidates with a recommendation were evaluated by Dispatch.* A total of 83 candidates were forwarded to Dispatch for consideration.* Of those 83 candidates, 44 individuals were offered interviews.* Interviews are expected to last through the end of November.* Offers are expected to be extended to candidates in early December.Of course, any of the dates listed above could change based on scheduling issues.

That is roughly 10% of those applied will get an interview. I'd be curious to know if that is the average?

I'd also like to know the following:

what the demographics of the external candidates are - avg experience level
out of the 44 - how many internals

I know UA has hired people with 1 year dispatch experience

I will see if I can get those numbers once the new class starts.

That's really good news, but...I still think I'll wallow in self-pity for another day or two.:)

Can't forget the overly vague Myspace status with song lyrics. Let all your friends know something happened but only tell them with Nickelback.

look at this photograaaaaph...

I believe 11 of the 44 interviews are internal. They all interviewed last week.

I've recently read some articles on fleet planning. Seems many of the majors are slowing growth in 2017 to increase the RASM (Revenue per Available Seat Mile). Could mean a 1-2 year slump in hiring if what I read is accurate, I hope that they're wrong.

Anyone know what the pay scale at United is? Just curious.

It's more than a regional. If you're chasing money, you're in the wrong industry.

It's United....they voted in a new contract recently. Why would this be your main concern?
