Ok, I'll eat the crow I deserve, or how I learned to love the Bus.

Today, I became the newest line qualified Airbus FO at my shop.

I humbly take back most of the bad things I've thought and or said about the Bus over the years.

I still don't agree with some of their philosophies about the way airplanes should be, but I can work around that. I don't really ever want to fly a yoke equipped airplane again.

Congrats! Wait till you get to experience the funkiness that is the crosswind t/o and landing.
Been there, done that already. That would be one of the things I don't like. It's been an "interesting" transition from the mighty MD80, but I'm happy to have joined the 20th century.

Surely, you speak of philosophies such as this...

Ok, that's kind of a cheap shot. But, damn, I love the juxtaposition of narration and video... and trees.

I guess I haven't flown enough airplanes but I've found that the "bad and in a xwind" complaint unfounded. Also, surprised you announce a love affair with the airplane right after getting type. Normally it takes a while for the love to grow on the bus.

I didn't say I have a love affair with it, I do enjoy flying it though. I freely admit I had some misconceptions about the way they did things, and I don't agree with everything Airbus. However, it's comfortable, quiet, I can uplink all the stuff I previously had to type in, don't have to do position reports..The list goes on..I'm about "work smart, not hard", and the Bus is all over that.

Congrats on the type and Welcome to the bus....you may hate it at first, but dat cockpit tho.....

(Also, watch out for the ensuing carpal tunnel that may come from flying too much. Be sure to keep your wrist fit for flight by scrolling through JC, or... uh.... whatever.)
