Absolutely. But I would think most people aren't stupid enough to actually discourage or intimidate open time pickups. There is one thread on APC in which guys are doing something close to borderline illegal regarding open time.

Yes but if the group historically picked up a certain amount of open time or had a certainly level of sick calls and then that amount changes as pilots get militant during negotiations, it's often times enough for the company to get an injunction.

That makes sense. But if their sudden lack of desire to work "voluntary" overtime results in the cancellation of 320+ flights, isn't that really Delta's piss-poor management of manpower?

Oops, think I might have just answered my own question.......


Of course if the original contract included a concession from the company to provide "available overtime" for the pilot group and now the group is declining said extra work/money, THEN I see why the law suit.
 
It never fails that when you show up at certain FBOs there will always be a collection of pilots in the crew lounge eating every piece of garbage that Fox throws their way.

I understand that organizing a revolt is not the issue here, it's HOW the revolt was organized. If the revolt was a result of conversation at a private home during a Tupperware party, there would have been no law suit.

Nah, it was a change in status quo.

If you're averaging X number of your pilots doing over time, and then that number plummets simultaneously with a no overtime campaign plastered all over social media, forums and such, a fully concerted effort where people are checking schedules and intimidating other pilots during full section six negotiations (or whatever they're called), you're not going to have a good time at all.

As crazy as it sounds, it's what happened. That's how precarious it is to electronically talk about overtime campaigns and sickouts. The second you press a key, it's public record and subpoena-ible (not really a word)

That said, the best advice I got before I got married came from a UPS FO while I was jumpseating. But overall...

Edit: I'm not sure if I missed the "marriage" part of your post due to whiskey or if you edited it.

Every ATC knows you don't need to be smart to be a pilot, just have money. (Although that's more directed at GA than commercial)
