Headset in the dash

Hey guys

Just made the jump to Piedmont and I'm in the market for a good headset for the Dash 8. The company requires TSO. I plan on transitioning to the 145 later next year. Any suggestions? I currently have the Bose QC15 setup. Anyone know the TSO process and cost to have them converted?

Flew the Dash for 5 years. Doesn't really need ANR or Dave Clarks for that matter. Props are 900 RPM in cruise, and the thing is way quiet for a turboprop. A Telex 750 or similar will do just fine.

If you are moving on to something noisier, then, yea, you might want to pick up something better.

I've used the QC-15 setup for years, including in the -8. If I recall, it was $75 + shipping, but double check the Ufly Mike website. Hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new headset. Oh....I've never worn the earbuds, just carried them in my bag...Feds have never said anything.

I've been using Clarity Aloft in the Dash with no complaints. ANR isn't necessary

The Dash is not that quiet! I used a Telex 850 at Piedmont because of the TSO requirement. C5 has no such thing and the only way I'll give up my Lightspeed Zulu2 is for a pair of Bose. I'm a huge proponent of ANR and not a fan of Clarity Aloft, but I don't like in-ear in general.

I've no experience with the DC's, but the 850's would be fine for both aircraft if you wanted to save some money.

Sound is subjective, but I find the constant low rumble and vibration of the Dash fatiguing without ANR. The 145 would be more wind noise, which tends to be higher frequency. I was fine with the 850 in the Citation as well and find them better suited to a jet cockpit.
