What does the crystal ball say about DX hiring soon?

I was talking to some AA dispatchers here at the ADF summit who were saying the same thing. It's a shame. I was pretty shocked when they told me the estimate of how many they needed to hire, yet how poor the hiring outlook was for the next good chunk of time.

Perhaps this is an ignorant question, but I'm going to spread my wings and ask anyways lol. If the need is there for more personnel, why is the hiring outlook poor; the hiring pool is not shallow from what I understand? Company financials look good to me? I'd love to get on specifically with AA sooner or later.

Partly because dispatchers like me keep picking up overtime. Even if the workload doesnt get adjusted to a lower total with more desks, there is frequently a bunch of overtime available. It usually gets covered on the L-AA side and there is never a need to junior assign overtime shifts. Myself included, many do multiple quick turns with only 8 hours between shifts to pick up the available over and double time. It is excellent money. I am not complaining about it but for those who want to get into AA, it definitely does not help. Someone on the L-US side can comment on the OT situation there as I am not that familiar with it.
