They probably planted it in. You should learn to drive a car before you fly. I've had students apply stupid nose down trim and let go over the numbers. Any landing you can walk away from amirite? :D

It happened a lot when I was instructing. More so during solos when students bounced. We had more planes go off the runway than southwest :biggrin:. Thankfully no one was hurt though.

I was on frequency when this happened and it was very terrifying to listen to the events unfold on radio during that. The sounds inside that cockpit made my heart sink...as I thought it was something much more worse.

Pretty much rattled me for the next 2 days. Never heard anything like that out here and hope to never hear anything like it again. So happy it wasn't what I thought when I was listening.

Surprised this made the news. Seriously hoping my colleague can recover from that. Ugh.

Mic was open about a few seconds long before impact. I pretty much heard a panicked voiced scream for help and then nothing.

Also @z987k it's not dirt, those are rocks. I've seen about 4 airplanes go off the runway at DVT in the past year but never seen the nose sheer off either. This was on landing though so maybe had a higher velocity and a lot of force on the nose. It might be constructed better than Cessna but the thing still looks like a chop stick waiting to snap at any moment my student tries to dart you into the runway....and I teach instrument and commercial for crying out loud :oops:
