I have my own insurance but often wonder how the discussion will go down in the event something did happen.
Ferrying(re-positioning) the aircraft isn't exactly a commercial operation.

Sure it is, if compensation is happening. Monetarily or otherwise. The FAA has previously ruled that flight time is compensation.
