Inside the Cockpit of the B-1 Inflight

I've never seen this video. It's a pretty cool insight of the cockpit inflight but also a cool look at the demeanor of the crew and how seriously they take their jobs. You can see the meaning of their jobs in their faces. Specially when the camera zooms in on the guy standing proudly with "Global Strike Command" patch on his chest. @MikeD You must have seen/felt some of the highest thrills of life in your F117.

I find it interesting that the crew had both regular headsets and helmets. I'd always assumed it was helmets only for the B-1 and B-52.

Everybody do yourself a favor and click mute until you see the plane taking off. That thing makes a Garrett sound like a sweet peaceful lullaby.

Cool video though.

Combat requirement vs Crew Fatigue and comfort.

Bombers are known for flying ridiculously long missions with many of them launching from stateside, flying to a target in Iraq/Bosnia/Libya/etc... Bombing it... Then flying home.

The only time the Helmet is really a must have is when it's in a combat environment. Other than that it's just the worlds least ergonomic airliner hauling bombs.

Yup. T/o, landing, A/R, low level, and employment, is when required.

I was dumbfounded by a B2 guy that was telling me they actually practiced a full 24 hour mission .... In the Sim.

After 4 hours in the LCT for the 64 I'm ready to stab anyone that asks me to keep that helmet on..... 2 hours for the AVCATT.

I'm surprised they could get a sim to operate that long without failing. I've never had a sim event that didn't have a reboot session.
