Isn't HIMS for serious problems / alcoholics?

What program exists for someone who just socially drinks, and one time ends up socially drinking a little too close to report time and is caught/busted the next day at the airport?

Is HIMS appropriate in that situation?

If somebody can't control their "social" drinking enough to avoid showing up for a flight above whatever the legal limit is, they have a problem and hence, would be a good fit in to the hims program.

I know lots of guys who won't drink on a trip at all because they don't want any issues ever. I also know guys who argue with dispatch to bump up the cost index number so they can get to the hotel in time to legally get a drink in. And I know guys that ignore the 12 or 8 or day of or whatever rule because they "know their bodies" well enough to not report to work above the limit.

Meh.
 
I'd be interested to know who spotted this and raised the alarm. You'd have to be pretty steaming for it to be noticeable.

I think a Glasgow night out could be a factor - London isn't as fun.

Right, that used to be me. All it takes is once. Especially if things are falling apart at home. In no circumstances should a pilot ever self disclose to the FAA or ALPA. Its the biggest mistake a pilot can ever make by being honest. HIMS will teach you to lie about attendance at church 3 X a week.

The article states one of the pilots worked in Air Force intelligence (CIA) I think. Interesting. He should leak everything he knows to Scotland Yard and seek asylum. That's what I would do.

The daily mail article also states, "Grebenc is a native of Fort Worth, Colorado," and the other was awarded with inclusion in the Faa database, "In 2013, Licona was awarded with inclusion on the FAA Airmen Certification Database, according to Aviation Business Gazette.

The award recognizes 'certified pilots who have met or exceeded the high educational, licensing and medical standards established by the FAA,' the site said" so I wouldn't count on the daily mail for details.

With part 117 it's part possible to fly the segment unaugmented. Would make for a crappy red eye over though.

We tried that. It didn't work. All it took was an hour or two delay, and the FDP limit was exceeded resulting in a cancelled flight if the layover time was less than the required to acclimatize. Add a third body, and you get the full 12 hours allowed. Much cheaper that way.

This is bull. People lose track of time, and make mistakes. That doesn't make them an alcoholic. It makes them irresponsible.

Fear of delaying a flight, or getting in trouble for having to call out for a trip will make people do things they shouldn't, especially if they aren't off of probation yet. I'm in now way condoning what they did. Just being realistic. They screwed up, and will now have to pay the consequences.

I must have confused that with another article and admittedly, I do not know much about the military. I am a pacifist. You know when you have a lot on your mind and you can't sleep...its the same as being drunk.

The point I was getting at is that psychiatry and rehab are being used to control people within industry. People who have often committed reprehensible crimes. I'm not sure flying hungover once, and then admitting it, qualifies as a reprehensible crime. The CIA does psychologically murder people to make them operatives. They are experimenting in rehab and with psychiatry. That's my theory anyway.

My husband is not at United but those who are married to United pilots asked this and were told that after the fact it's a done deal. But I don't know.

If it's on Facebook, it's already public and widely broadcast, trust me.
