This should be his sentence:
Minimum three years in the pen.
totally beat me to it... bummer lolUnless you're George Zimmerman.
There had to be more because in the video he didn't point the gun. He was pointing his finger and the gun was in the other hand behind his back. Albeit the threat was overt, he didn't actually point the gun (at least in the video)
Which is exactly why I wrote the overt threat might still be felt.......I don't think there's much distinction between pointing a gun at someone and just holding it in your hand(brandishing). The point is that your still using it as leverage to threaten someone with.
Why was he getting out of the car with a gun in the first place? Not because he was afraid. He was using it to menace them. Even if there's something that happened prior to the video, I can't think of much that justifies getting out of your car with a gun in your hand as a response.
It's a rather dumb way to end a good career.
Apart from an initial report, we still don't know what truly happened in the whole situation. Likely more facts, especially what led up to what. Unless there's more information. At this point he's only charged, not convicted of anything. Innocent until proven guilty, .
Does he lose the status of "good guy with a gun"?

Are you guys being serious?
Let the facts come? The guy was caught pulling a gun on a vehicle. Now unless the vehicle and/or its occupants caused him to be in an immediate defense of life situation (which is not the case per the video) then he might have a case.
But lets be honest, this is just yet another road rage incident from a gun owner who decided to pull his thing out for all to see.
And to those saying: "Job/employer doesn't matter"
Really? This guy flipped and pulled a gun in a situation that tested his patience, calm and coolness. That this person is involved in a PIC role of transporting at a 121 airline, his actions are reprehensible. Who would want to share a flight deck with someone who is quick to snap and pulls a gun on a situation in a rage incident?
Although this isn't as bad as the last pilot in Florida to be arrested for something similar. Remember that GoJet FFDO pilot pulling a passenger over at a gun point identifying himself as a "federal agent" ?![]()
I'm saying he deserves due process. But like anything, all facts need to be known. Will that change what this looks like? I don't know.
And I agree, traffic stops by FFDOs are outside their scope of enforcement. Is that guy still an FFDO?

Completely agree.
The video is pretty damning, there isn't anything I can think of that justifies getting out of your car and pulling a gun on someone while you approach their vehicle. He was clearly the aggressor there. If he was afraid or in the act of defending himself because of something that happened before the video, he would have been better staying in the safety of his vehicle and driving away. Just the mere act of getting out of your car alone would get you arrested in the state I live in. The fact that he sees the camera and has an "oh crap" moment doesn't assist the validity of any potential explanation he may have either.
Depends if he gets convicted or not, I would think.
My classifications of these "X...with a gun" people are as follows:
1. Good guy with a gun (A): A good guy, no criminal history, armed and legal to be, stays proficient and knowledgable, knows the legalities and responsibilities with carrying a gun.
2. Good guy with a gun (B): A good guy, no criminal history, armed and legal to be, may or may not stay proficient or be knowledgable, weak on or doesn't know the legalities and responsibilties of carrying a gun. And generally has no business being around guns at all, even though fully legal to be, due to the above or ego or carelessness or a host of other factors.
3. Bad guy with a gun (A): A criminal with same history, armed and illegally so, is and stays proficient and knowledgable, aware of the laws and smart with keeping a low profile. Generally professional firearms training background of some sort. Dangerous.
4. Bad guy with a gun (B): A criminal with same history, armed and illegally so, doesn't really stay proficient and minimally trained/knowledgable. No real business to be carrying if only for his own safety or that of people around him. Generally no professional firearms training. Example: sideways shooting gangbangers or machine-pistol drive-by shooters who hit everything but their target.
I knew an A-10 dude who was known to shoot his gun sideways too…………never saw him missLoved to pull out the old Hog 10 degree strafe (or was it 5 Mike?) in the F/A-18.
