I will perhaps suggest this, that as AS is now trying to swallow an entire (red and white) airline, they will not be posting anytime soon. That's just my feeling. No proof of that.
Wrong, absorption and re-jiggering has commenced.so it doesn't look like anyone is going to be absorbed.
Straight from my PM, for those who are/were curious...
- How often does AS / QX post openings?
- "Flow" from QX into AS preferred, as opposed to other regional carriers
- Level of preferred experience going in to AS?
- Possibility of getting a tour of the ops center during upcoming off days?
As to the posting about how often AS or QX posts positions...I worked with a dispatcher here at my company who is now a Captain at QX, that postings for them are extremely rare. Their lowest seniority dispatcher has been there over 10 years. So unless their workload goes up more or people start leaving, you've probably got a better shot waiting for AS.
Depends on where you are. I'm from that area so I could make that work easy, but things aren't cheap there at alli believe they start around 60Ks - might be very comfortable living for Seattle area
We probably won't be hiring anytime soon if all the Virgin dispatchers come up. We had approval to hire 2 but that got shot down from the very top just before the merger announcement. My guess is that we will merge in 2018.
Will Alaska replace the buses with current 737 orders or will they place new orders? That will factor into staffing over the longer term.
The CEO has stated that they will most likely remain separate airlines, so it doesn't look like anyone is going to be absorbed.
We still have the Jet America brand around also if we wanted to use it. I think it is strange Southwest pushed back their Max orders to 2023-25. I would guess Boeing cut them a deal and will help Alaska get rid of the buses. There will be a fence around the buses for the pilots until they go away. And the CEO started they might stay a separate company, which is just posturing for the up coming pilot contract. Whipsaw
