Awe...

Army uses busses for large scale movements of members cross country. That's cute.

Wonder if the Army bothered to ask Air Force to charter a C130 to transport those young men and women...hmm...doubt it...must treat soldier as widget.

Longest bus ride I've ever had to endure was a nicely chartered behemoth from San Antonio to Biloxi. Quite comfortable actually even in blues as an E2. But that's the Air Force...and as a non-prior service member completing BMT going to Tech school.

RHIP.

Now it's airline wherever I need to go as an E6 unless I want my own vehicle (as is the case for a trip next week).

BoCHIP (Branch of Choice has its Privileges).

We actually brought up getting a C-17 last time we went to NTC (since there is a whole wing next door) and it was shot down. Not because it was smart or too expensive, just because Busses were easier to book... Laziness knows no bounds.

Why are busses easier to book than scheduling Air Force lift? That's the real issue here. I'm telling you, it's no easy task. The AF is incredibly stingy and bureaucratic with their lift. They have rules within rules wrapped in other rules about accepting requests. They often fly on my lift, which takes a phone call and a simple form, and comment on how amazed they are with the ease of scheduling helicopters.

Our Bn commander is the tits when it comes to finding missions for us. We've done more in the last year that broadens our missions capabilities than the unit has done in the recent past. (From what the W2 mafia).

Like you said it doesn't take much to get a ride in our birds. The other way around. Holy-poop.

I think that's the problem. Inter Brigade/Division it's just a "Hey Bill, it's Steve" phone call with an AMR sent up later that is copy paste of the last 19 you sent up knowing the mission was already approved.

Try and get on an Air Force lift and unless you are task force nobody in the 3 shop even knows how to request it because there is no example template on the share drive, much less how to network it.
