I have been following along here for a while and now I feel like wading in (or weighing in) on this topic. I think what most are tying to do here is shame the PSA OCC management into making some changes. And from what I hear...these rants, as some have called them, are beginning to find their way up the ladder. It seems some of the recent hiring issues have been blamed on JetCareers. Oh, you mean the thread where past employees, WHO TRIED LIKE HELL to make and create change, are calling as it is.....That thread? You Mainline guys sit back with your fat union paychecks, literally preaching from on high, while those poor folks at PSA have a horrible CBA that has been out of date for 2 yrs and management keeps cancelling the union meetings. Not just postponing...neh, cancel. over and out. dont come back. Look at poor Brickyard....they are in bankruptcy and they are out of contract but management has been working with the union somewhat and they are trying for God's sake. And here is another little ditty...if you think this is bad and clearly you mainline elites do, then try reading the PSA Pilot's postings on other forums and on their FB page! Those guys make this thread look like a vacation bible school. They hate every inch of PSA and for good reason. PSA is the worst in pay for starting FOs. That's all I'll say on that...So it's not just the OCC....its systemic, yet I think the OCC management can do a lot to help everyone have a better working life and some dignity in the work place.
I'm sure many or you are saying, "well just get out if you dont like it" And that is the kind of narrow minded intolerance that lets management do what they want. Just like in real life, not everyone can just move on. Some folks live in the area and cannot move. Some have kids in school and others have elderly parents they care for. So they are home each night bathing the kids or grandma...and they dont have time to surf the internet and look for jobs. Certianly not mainline jobs in other cities. So why can't PSA provide a decent wage and decent workplace?
I feel for my brothers and sisters that are still there and are being railroaded every damn day.
And many thanks to JRDownUnder...you arrived with your zillion yrs experience (and your super tricked out spreadsheet!!) and tried to help us all and show us the light. Even you knew you wouldn't be there long. Four months and you were gone. But you did your best to correct so many wrongs. I think Im gonna write a country song....
Most of you have not a clue about PSA and some of you have never worked at a ramshackle regional, so to me your comments are the least relevant of any. So please stop lecturing those that seek some sort of voice or justice within the system. Stop stroking each other over your "rants" about how we are just too stupid to "get over it". That is not the point of all this.
This whole thing reminds of how white folk keep telling the black man that racism is all gone and if you think not then you're just lazy and cant "network" and to "just get over it". It is precisely the same logic.
If guys want to start a thread about how unbelievably fantastic it is to work in Louisville or Dallas, then please do so. Share with us your incredible schedule and your super sky-high wages. No one will stop you. In fact we probably wont spend too much time reading it either.
