Horizon

Jepp has (or used to have) a series of articles on chart usage which was even deeper than the legend pages. I Used it to study for the Eagle interview, which was notoriously picky on obscure minutiae. It did the trick.

Does anyone have any good links to gouge for the interview? Especially jep plates, all I have ever used is NACO.
Go to youtube and search for Jeppesen Charts. There are 2 of 3 videos there, Approach and Enroute. I paid somewhere around $90 back in the early 2000s for that video series but youtube has them for free. You are welcome.

I spent a bit of time looking over the Jepp legend online before I did my interview (for both the enroute and approach charts), and didn't really run into anything that I didn't recognize on the interview. The NACO and Jepp charts are pretty similar in many respects, so most of the difference is just down to the Jepp charts putting some of the information in slightly different places than you'd find it on a NACO version.

Keep in mind that Horizon is starting to get desperate for pilots (although our management won't publicly admit it), so as long as you're prepared for the interview, are a decent instrument pilot, and don't come across as a complete tool during the interview, you should have zero problems.

Thanks for the replies guys! I found those videos and links on jep plates very helpful! Again another example of why I choose to ask all of you for help during these processes!

I've been trying to get in touch with someone in the recruiting department as the lady I had been dealing with is no longer there. Does anyone have an email or phone number of someone I could talk with?

I have had zero luck getting a response as well. After the initial phone call letting me know about an interview on the 8th, I have yet to receive the "email" confirming my interview including the list of items I need to bring. I also would like to know how long the interview will roughly last as I have an 1800 duty on the evening of the interview. I have called numerous times as well.

Be patient. They fired all the help without any thought as to who was going to take over. No, seriously.

My buddy who is now in upgrade training told me the same thing. That there is a disconnect right now as the house cleaning just happened. I won't start sweating it until Monday, then I may be concerned as I have no idea where or when to show.

Anything new on interviews because of the personal change? Did the interview process change? Thanks in advance.

Still seems the same as what other posted in the past. Four part interview. HR, Chief Pilot, Tech, Sim (for non current 121 pilots). Honestly, I wish the sim was still the Frasca. They now use a PCATD with a king air config which really threw me off, not the best demonstration of pilot skill I have had. Also know the jepp stuff cold, I "self studied" hard for those and still missed a few questions in reference to the charts. Very laid back and a great group of people interviewing you. They even recognized I was nervous and calmed me down with some humor here and there.

Thanks for the reply. Congrats on the job offer!

You aren't kidding. I got an unsolicited email from a Horizon recruiter with the, "We got your resume; please apply" thing. I haven't applied or even been on their website.

Is August 22nd the next class date for people with ATPs? Are there any classes at the end of June or in July?

I believe classes are running in both June and July. I am just taking an August class so I can finish my commitment with my current company. Also so I can save some money up in preparation for the first year paycut.

Just a few questions for current QX guys that may be in the know how...

What is the training timeframe for ground/sim?
How long is the wait for IOE?
What bases are new hires getting out of training? Anyone getting PDX straight out of training?
Is MFR really a PITA for commuters?
If given the choice between GEG,MFR, BOI would it be wise to choose GEG as a PDX commuter?
