DAL and Job Fairs

Hey Guys,

This is for a friend. I heard from a recruiter that DAL will only score an application once per year. As he's now juggling lots of job fairs, he's trying to figure out how much energy to put into DAL. Long story short, he has no idea when his application was last pulled and scored. His first job fair was a year and a half ago (he only had 2250TT, all SIC) and then he had a friend submit a LOR to the recruiting email last August. Can anyone guess when his app was pulled and scored? That is, he was not competitive at all with his first job fair, but are all job fair apps pulled and scored? Thanks!

Lets play… "Fact or Crap"! :)

My friend says: Crap!

My friend says: Crap. As the applicant, this isn't your concern and there are "multiple angles" of which you would potentially get the call for an interview.

(he only had 2250TT, all SIC)

My friend says: So?!

and then he had a friend submit a LOR to the recruiting email last August.

My friend says: Good. But it's not indicative of if and when he would get the call. The "LOR" is only one of many methods of getting the attention of the evaluators.

Can anyone guess when his app was pulled and scored?

My friend says: Those that say they know, don't. Those that know, aren't going to speak else they will face the wrath of HR.

That is, he was not competitive at all with his first job fair, but are all job fair apps pulled and scored? Thanks!

My friend says: Define competitive? It is NOT a numbers game.

My friend says: If you go to a job fair, it is "pull application for further review because this guy kicks ass", "Meets the minimum qualifications", or "Please don't waste time because applicant doesn't meet minimums or is probably a serial killer".

Tell me more about this serial killer angle.

@Derg or any one else......ok dumb question but is there any indication to the applicant that your app has been scored? Or is it a wait and see if you get the interview?

Ok, I'll bite. Lets say a candidate has a great meeting with a recruiter, but only has 4000ish TT, what are the chances they even get a call? I always figured without military time, anything less than 5k won't even get a second look. Am I wrong? (I hope)

Depends on the applicant and the application.

Again, it's not a numbers game.

Yeah I know some knucklehead that had 2800 TT civilian that made it happen. He is a male model though, so that may have had something to do with it.

It is a numbers game. You have to get the points. You just aren't given the information that tells you about how to win the numbers game. Be the best you can be and pray. That's the best I have come up with. Obviously you know this, I'm more or less speaking to the group.

It's true about the points. The largest point makers seems to be the highly educated. I.E. BS/MS/JD Etc.

Is that really that big of an advantage? Is it more related to where the advanced degree was obtained? Does it depend on the airline?
